MISSION STATEMENT
The IRISH MINIATURE HORSE REGISTER's
mission is to create a standard of excellence in Irish Miniature
Horses, and to improve and protect the welfare of these horses.
The IMHR's aim is to give a better understanding to not only the
owners of miniature horses but also to the public and by so doing,
secure their welfare and improve the quality of the breed. To this
end IMHR will provide seminars and education programmes in the conformation,
breeding, care and training of miniature horses and host shows and
events, emphasising the many uses and fun activities open to miniature
horse owners.

The
miniature horse is becoming as popular in Ireland as it already
is in other countries worldwide. Unfortunately, due to lack of information
and education, many unsuspecting new owners are being sold some
miniature horses, for large sums of money, despite the fact they
may have serious conformation faults not uncommon in these pint
sized equines. Horses
registered with IMHR must meet the Register Standard of Perfection
and cannot exceed 34 inches in height for section “A”
and 38 inches for section “B” horses, measured at the
withers.
Whether your
interest is showing, breeding or fun classes such as miniature show
jumping, driving and long-rein obstacle course competition, IMHR
will help you to get the best from your little horses and find the
area most suited to them.

Horses
who excel in the show ring will be eligible for entry on the IMHR
Elite Register of Excellence and have recognition as being of the
highest breeding/showing standard in the country. These horses will
also qualify for the prestigious Miniature Horse of the Year Show,
held in U.K. each year by International Miniature Horse and Pony
Society.
The
IMHR has a unique panel of judges who are not only Irish Shows Association
trained and approved conformation judges but also individually selected
by the IMHR for their knowledge of miniature horses. We aim to provide
the best service possible because you and your horses deserve it.
The IMHR will
offer rewarding programs, opportunities and activities and a wide
variety of resources to expand your involvement with this special
equine known as the Miniature Horse.
