The Irish Miniature
Horse Register’s Conformation and Showing Seminar, held on
November 26th at Kilnacloy Stables in Monaghan Town was a resounding
success. The seminar, held by Kate Jackson, ISA Panel Judge, was
the first of it’s kind in Ireland and attracted delegates
from as far a field as Mullingar, Kildare and Wicklow, including
several new enthusiastic members.
Equine conformation
was discussed at length using both miniature horses and larger sport
horses to demonstrate both excellent and faulty conformation. “I
think it’s vital that people appreciate the importance of
correct conformation,” explained Kate. “Not everyone
understands equine jargon and it’s important for people to
see examples at first hand.”
Said one member
from Cavan “Kate is obviously very knowledgeable and passionate
and about correct equine conformation and her enthusiasm rubbed
off on all of us. She explained everything so clearly. It was a
fascinating and equine conformation is no longer a mystery to me!”
The evening
was rounded off with a short demonstration of miniature horse long
reining and show jumping. “We want owners of horses who are
not of show quality, to know there’s more to minis than showing.”
said Kate.
